Since its formation in 1969, Harambee DT SACCO Society Ltd has been operating on a common bond model. The society primarily drew its membership from Government institutions.

The society through the 47^th Annual Delegates meeting discussed and endorsed a proposal to open the common bond. The society operationalized the open bond in year 2020 and currently Kenyan citizens (both residents and non-residents) who fit within the various determined categories are eligible to join Harambee DT SACCO Society Ltd.

Opening the common bond presents the Society with an opportunity for faster growth and expansion.

Membership Categories

Harambee DT SACCO welcomes a wide variety of members — from individuals and families to organizations and institutions. Find the category that best fits you and join us today.

Category 1

Members Under Check-off Arrangement

Employees in government or reputable non-government institutions, including SACCO staff and subsidiaries. These organizations must have an MOU guiding monthly remittances.

Category 2

Members Under Non Check-off Arrangement

• Wafanisi: Retired members who wish to continue saving.
• Individuals: In formal employment with regular income.
• Diaspora Members: Kenyan citizens abroad with legal income.
• Spouses: Spouses of existing members with income.
• Children: Aged 18+, with a parent as a member.

Category 3

Groups, CBOs & NGOs

Legally registered self-help groups, community-based organizations, and NGOs. Admitted in line with our by-laws and membership policy. You may find our by-laws by clicking on this link

Category 4

Corporate Members

• Sole Proprietorships: Small businesses like salons, clinics, or retail stores.
• Partnerships: Businesses owned jointly, governed by partnership deeds.
• Companies: Entities limited by shares or guarantees.

Secure your Financial Future for a Blissful Retirement

Wafanisi Membership

This program encourages members retiring from formal employment to continue with membership. The program encourages active Wafanisi members to channel their pension through Harambee DT SACCO FOSA and continue saving even after retirement. This way the retiring members can continue accessing loan facilities using their pension or other incomes.

Features:

Pension Processing – borrow using pension through BOSA or FOSA.
KES 1,000 monthly deposits contribution.
KES 300 sink fund.
Loans x3 or x4 of deposits with payroll guarantors.
Self-guaranteed loans up to 90% of deposits (if not guaranteeing others).
Attach 6 months’ bank statement and setup FOSA standing order or debit order when applying.
Contributions + loan repayments via standing order, debit order, or cash.
Earn dividends on share capital and interest rebates on deposits.

Retired members may access up to 50% of deposits if:

They have no outstanding loan.
They haven’t guaranteed any active loan.

KRA PIN Certificate
Current payslip (if employed)
Registration Certificate (for SMEs)
