Objectives

HICS is dedicated to empowering members through sustainable, diverse investments that offer high returns while upholding financial security, transparency, and responsible governance by:

Investing members' contributions in prudently identified ventures to maximize returns on their investments.
Acquiring, leasing, or otherwise disposing of the Society’s buildings and other properties as necessary.
Raising funds by accepting deposits from members and contracting loans from non-members, including issuing debentures, mortgaging properties, or using any other means, up to a maximum amount decided at the Annual General Meeting.
Lending money to members for purposes directly related to acquiring living accommodation for themselves
Undertaking building operations.
Acquiring supplies of building materials, machinery of all kinds, and household furniture or equipment for use in construction, or for sale or hire to members.
Acquiring and relinquishing land, buildings, and rights over land and buildings through purchase, lease, or any other means necessary to achieve these objectives.
Entering into contracts with members for the sale or lease of land and buildings acquired by the Society in pursuit of its objectives, on terms and conditions determined from time to time.
Doing all such things as are incidental or necessary for the attainment of any or all of the foregoing objectives of the Society.

Requirements

Membership is open only to members of Harambee DT SACCO
Registration fee is KES 5,000/
Share capital is KES 10,000/- (Members must own at least 100 shares of KES 100)
Members can either pay this amount of KES 15,000/- at once or in installments. (Members can even pay KES 1,000/- per month from the salary)
Minimum monthly deposits contribution is KES 1,000/-
Contributions can be made via checkoff, standing orders or cash

Gichuki Kabukuru, PR & Communications Manager of Harambee DT SACCO and Ag. Chief Executive Officer of HICS, has over 25 years of experience. His career spans journalism, senior communications roles at Kenya Wildlife Service and Postal Corporation of Kenya, before joining Harambee SACCO in 2011. Under his leadership, HICS has grown its asset base beyond KES 100 million, targeting KES 1 billion. A member of the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK), he champions empowering members to take their first investment step and grow their seed capital over time.
